Snowboard Competition

This seasonal program is designed for riders who want to compete in half-pipe, slope-style, and boarder-cross as well as receive race training (slalom and giant slalom) for United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) Southern Vermont Series sanctioned events. For the past several years athletes have competed in the USASA Southern Vermont Series, USASA National Championships and other regional events. All competitors must be members of the USASA Southern Vermont Series. Participants must have mastered the majority of the mountain terrain and ride all lifts independently. All new applicants must be screened before acceptance to ensure the readiness of the athlete and proper program placement.

Lesson Benefits

• Program participants will improve their half-pipe, slope-style, boarder-cross, slalom, and giant slalom skills with competition experience.

Mount Snow Snowboard Team is for any intermediate or advanced rider looking to compete and to take his/her riding ability to a higher level. Our coaching staff will work on all disciplines with the athlete to ensure that the rider becomes well rounded and well versed on a snowboard. Being able to ride everything confidently is the foundation that can generate personal and competitive success in snowboarding. We promote camaraderie within a team environment and strive to enhance the lives of each and every athlete by creating the ultimate on-hill winter experience.

Requirements
• USASA membership required in order to compete.
• All programs must be paid in full by the first day of the program. No exceptions.
• Must have participated Snowboard Development or must have passed a screening process.

Goals:
• To expand an already solid skill set of riding to include safety and competency on all terrain park features, such as jumps, boxes, rails, and halfpipe; focus on takeoff and landing technique; to learn a variety of switch and forward spins; to compete in USASA Slopestyle and/or halfpipe events around Southern VT; and to have fun while being part of the team.

Prerequisites:
• Freeride: No prior competition experience necessary. Riders should be comfortable straight-airing terrain park jumps up to 30 ft., be able to spin a 360, and be comfortable getting to the lip of the halfpipe. At this level, riders should have the motivation to get out on the mountain every day and a desire to have fun on all sorts of terrain.
