Freestyle Competition
The freestyle competitions program offers two tracks: moguls and freeride. Our moguls program competes in USSA’s Freestyle Eastern Division and our freeride program competes in USASA’s Southern Vermont Series. For the past several years, athletes have competed in the Eastern Freestyle Championships, Junior Freestyle Championships, and the National Freestyle Championships for USSA and USASA. All competitors must be members of USSA and/or USASA depending on competition participation.
Participants must be able to master all of the mountain terrain and ride all lifts. All new applicants must be screened before acceptance to ensure the readiness of the athlete and proper program placement.
Lesson Benefits
• Program participants will improve their freestyle skills with competition experience.

Requirements
• USSA and/or USASA membership required in order to compete.
• All programs must be paid in full by the first day of the program. No exceptions.
• Must have participated Freestyle Development or must have passed a screening process.
Goals:
• To expand an already solid skill set of skiing and jumping to include safety and competency on all terrain park features, such as jumps, boxes, rails, and halfpipe; focus on takeoff and landing technique; to learn a variety of switch and forward spins; to compete in USASA Slopestyle and/or halfpipe events around Southern VT; and to have fun while being part of the team.
• To give skiers proficiency at maintaining a line in the moguls, holding a good form, successfully completing two jumps in a mogul course and having fun while being part of the team.
Prerequisites:
• Freeride: No prior competition experience necessary. Skiers should be comfortable straight-airing terrain park jumps up to 30 ft., be able to spin a 360, and be comfortable getting to the lip of the halfpipe. At this level, skiers should have the motivation to get out on the mountain every day and a desire to have fun on all sorts of terrain.
• Moguls: No prior competition experience necessary. Regarding skiing ability, a coach screening at the beginning of the season is required. At this level, skiers should be able to be self-motivated to get out on the mountain every day, want to have fun, want to learn how to ski moguls with good form and want to jump. Also, powder days are spent in the trees and we like to encourage all-mountain skiing for all skiers, with an overarching emphasis on mogul skiing.
